Meet Our Pastors

Ed and Pearl Canty are the co-founders and pastors of ThePLACE (Community Church) in Mint Hill, NC (Charlotte Metro area). Ed serves as the Senior Pastor and Pearl assists him in pastoral duties.

The two met online (blackplanet.com) in 2003 and were married 2004. They have 4 children: Avery, Meena, Kabo and Moya and a dog named Rueger.

Ed was ordained as a minister in 2011 and has served in the following areas of ministry: Greeters / Ushers, Small Group Leader, Pastoral Care and Men’s Ministry.  He loves to serve others in whatever capacity or opportunity that is presented to him. He has a heart for both local and global ministry and has traveled to Africa (Ghana and Uganda) on mission trips. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and has worked in the Technology Industry for 30 years.

Pearl was born and raised in the beautiful country of South Africa. She always had dreams of traveling which is one of the things that led her to the US in 2002. She received salvation in her teenage years and has served and led in many different capacities. She has passion for children’s ministry and ensuring that they are not left behind and that they are equipped to prosper in society. She is gifted in speaking to and encouraging woman of all ages and backgrounds. She has worked in the Technology Industry for the last decade or so while just recently completing her Master in Cybersecurity.
